Current Conditions

Lutsen has been absolutely bustling over the last week! In addition to our normal slew of weekend adventurers, we also had youth ski races and a ski patrol clinic happening on the mountain. It was a great weekend with skiing across all 4 mountains with all 8 lifts being operational. 58 of 62 main runs and 18 of 33 sidecountry runs had all of our visitors skiing from first chair to last chair. Youth ski races had a great turnout and there was a lot of spectators on the Koo Koo run while ski patrol practiced advanced techniques – like pulling a sled down a mogul run! The Timberjack terrain park is now officially up and running with lots of great jumps, rails, and boxes for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy. The Log Chute slopestyle course is almost finished and should be opened up soon if conditions remain optimal.

Where to get the most runs in

There will be A LOT of traffic on the mountains the next couple of weekends due to ski races. Before heading out, stop by our front desk or give us a call and we can let you know which areas of the mountains will be occupied by ski races.

Best Run Right Now

My favorite run that I did recently is Timberwolf. This run is accessible from both the Timberwolf and the Caribou Express chairlifts. It’s a fun and slightly tricky run but due to being on the far side of the hill, it still has good snow in the trees!

Best Hidden Gem Right Now

Dave’s Glade is a less popular run due to being all the way at the top of Mystery Mountain but is a fun winding and narrow run that follows under the chairlift and still has good snow.

Best Bet For Beginners

I took a friend of mine to Ullr Mountain for the first time and we had a great time getting her acclimated to skis on all of the runs on that mountain. Also, Ski School is always a great option.

Best Bet For Intermediates

Have you ever done a black diamond? The steeper runs on the Gondola-side of Moose Mountain are a great place to start.

Best Bet For Experts

The second of the three steep runs has opened – the most recent is called Free Fall. This run is aptly named due to the sheer drop in the beginning of it.
