Minnesota offers some of the best grouse hunting in the country. Even in down years of the grouse population’s boom-and-bust cycle, hunters in other states still envy our flush rates and hunter success rates.  – Minnesota DNR

WHERE TO HUNT

Old Logging Trails

Simply drive the backroads in the Lutsen area and keep a lookout for any logging trails that split off. These logging trails typically go in for a mile or 2 before ending at a large clearing. If you don’t kick up a grouse at least you’ll enjoy the scenery and time well spent with your hunting companion. Few back roads to try: Sawbill Trail Road, 6 Hundred Rd, Honeymoon Trail, Pancore Lake Rd., The Grade and Caribou Trail Rd.

Caribou Lake Hunter Walking Trails

These trails were developed by Minnesota’s DNR for the specific purpose of hunting and perserving the ruffed tail grouse and woodcock. Make your way through several miles of interconnecting loops and clearings. Your odds are pretty good here… so no excuses.
